SpaceRead.com was supposed to be something big! Well now it is time, time to make the site something useful. I've owned the domain for a while now, but haven't had the time to put much into it. Tonight I configured the site to allow users to be able to add their own URL to the site. That is right, if you have your own blog focusing on Space, NASA, or other related topics you can add it to our Consumer page.

Why would you want to do this? Well, you can have your site's content aggregated here, exposing your posts to a much larger audience. As we continue to grow, so will the traffic to your site!

In order to get your site listed you must register here on the site, make sure you are logged in, then visit the Consumer page. Once you are there you can add a new URL, be sure to include the Name of your website, and then the URL to the RSS feed of your space related blog posts.

STS-129 Launch from Oliver HinePhoto Courtesy of Oliver Hine, launch of STS-129

So one of the things I have always wanted to do is see a Space Shuttle launch, and take photos of a shuttle launch. Well 2010 is slated as the final year for the Shuttle program so I think it is time to start making a trip to watch/shoot the launch happen. I started looking around at the NASA launch schedule a week or two ago and saw that there is/was a launch scheduled for 2/4 (STS-130, Endeavour). I say is/was because of some information I found today, but more on that later.

So the space shuttle launch trip is going to be longer than planned, possibly. We are waiting to see when it will launch after this morning’s scheduled launch was scrubbed last minute. Hopefully the launch attempt on Monday morning goes off as planned. Terec and I are down here, ready for the next attempt, and willing to stay longer if delays occur, but I’ve got so much going on right now getting home would be great!

I’ll post photos and such over the next couple days if things turn out. So far we’ve not gotten anything great from the photos, too windy and dark.

There is news on the web that an asteroid known as 2007 WD5 may hit Mars on January 30th 2008. Currently there is a 1 in 75 chance of the object impacting Mars, though it is believed those odds will decrease with new statistical information about the asteroid's orbit, this information should be available in early January.
